It’s a lot more than waking up, work and then going to bed.
Some of the strongest people I know are Nurses.
My financee is a Nurse. She has been a Nurse ever since we met.
Nursing means long days, nights and overtime shifts.
This creates a lot of things to look forward to in our house. I do my best to ensure dinner or breakfast is ready when she comes home. I enjoy and cherish these moments.
One of the best parts of my day is being able to spend time with her when she comes home and listen to how her day went. A lot of the times it is while I’m getting ready for my work day. Yet, It is important to sit down and enjoy time with one another.
I’ve been working from home more these days and I talk on the phone...A LOT. To makes things more challenging, my home office is down the hall from our bedroom. So, when she is sleeping during the day, I have to make sure to be quiet. A lot of the times, I’ll move to the basement where I can talk and walk without waking her up!
A 12+ hour shift, whether it is day or night can be draining on the body, physically, mentally and emotionally. Having an understanding is important to your partner and relationship. She knows I'm there for her no matter what happens during her shift.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
