The Forgotten Treasure On Our Doorstep

I took a day and spent it with my family.  We hiked around Christie Lake which was amazing if you are looking for somewhere to walk, with a beach, the ability to rent out boats and the space for bbqs and family gatherings then I highly recommend this Hamilton Conservation Park.  We have been there several times and even though its busy, it never feels packed.

We then headed back to Burlington and decided to have an early dinner at Emma’s Backporch.

I have lived in Burlington all my life and in fact, my wife and I met in Emma’s 15 years ago!! But I think with life being as busy as it is, you sometimes forget how amazing Burlington is and what great bars and restaurant we have, Emma’s being one of the top, in my opinion.  Its not fancy schmanzy, you wouldn’t necessarily pick it as your date night location, but its solid and perfect for a holiday Monday afternoon fun with the family.

For a couple of hours yesterday afternoon, my family and I subconsciously left Burlington and went on a 2 hour vacation to Jamaica.  The food was amazing, views were beautiful, and the atmosphere was refreshing.  We even made friends with a family who were sitting on the table next to us, an amazing couple who had just moved from the UK to Burlington a couple of months ago with their young daughter Charlie.

Everyone was happy, spirits were high and the live music really was the cherry on top.

I have no connection with Emmas, I am not trying to sell this place for any other reason than, on a summers afternoon, there really is no better place to hang.   Try it before the end of the summer if you havn’t already.
