Not many people like to clean the house. If you fall into this category, the following information is for you.
Here are five tips to make cleaning your house much faster and a lot less painful.
Tip #1: Complete One Task Before Moving On To The Next
Many people think they need to clean an entire room from top to bottom before moving on to the next. This line of thinking can make you feel like you’re stuck in an endless cycle, constantly starting the same tasks over and over again as you move from room to room. Instead, choose a task (vacuuming, dusting, etc.) and complete it in every room of the house before moving on to the next task. This way of cleaning is much more efficient and less likely to make you feel like a character in a movie who’s destined to relive the same day over and over again.
Tip #2: Carry Your Cleaning Supplies With You
Gather all your cleaning supplies in a handy tote to make it easier to find and manage them. You’ll spend less time going back and forth for the supplies you need, and you’ll always have what you need in the room you’re already in.
Tip #3: Declutter Rooms First
Before you begin cleaning any room in your home, spend a few minutes clearing the clutter. Go room to room and get rid of things that don’t belong. As you pick up magazines, paperbacks, shoes, etc. consider whether you should put them away, donate them, or throw them out.
Tip #4: Dust And Vacuum – In That Order
Dust each room. Work your way from top to bottom and concentrate your efforts on shelves, knick-knacks, tabletops, ceiling fans, etc. Make sure your ceiling fans are off before beginning to avoid spreading the dust around. Once you’ve finished dusting everything, change the sheets in all the bedrooms and vacuum all the floors throughout the home.
Tip #5: Wipe Down And Disinfect Hard Surfaces
Go through your home and wipe down all the hard surfaces including countertops, cabinets, appliances, telephones, TV remotes, etc. Use a homemade mixture of ½ cup white vinegar and 1 cup water to disinfect surfaces where germs collect and spread to others.
Cleaning the house is never a fun task, but when you optimize the process, it becomes something you don’t mind doing. Use the tips above to make cleaning your own home quick and painless.
